GMO Authorities

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, The Danish Agricultural Agency, The Danish Health Authority, The Danish Working Environment Authority and The Danish Environmental Protection Agency regulate the use of GMO. There is also a collaboration with the municipalities.

In Denmark, a number of different authorities regulates the use of GMOs.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency regulates the environmental aspects of the contained use of GMO’s (research and production) and also carry out inspections.

Municipalities

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency cooperates with the municipalities in connection with the approval of GMOs for production, in which cases the municipality in which the production company is located draws up an environmental approval of the production. If the municipality is not the responsible authority, it is The Danish Environmental Protection Agency that prepares the environmental approval.
