Illegal bottom paints for pleasure boats

In April and May 2010, the Chemical Inspection Service conducted a campaign on illegal bottom paint for pleasure boats. Bottom paint and packaging waste were controlled.

The purpose of the campaign was to control if owners of pleasure boats comply with the rules in the Statutory Order on restrictions on import, sale and use of biocidal bottom paint; special focus was on examining whether TBT- containing paint is still in circulation.

The Chemical Inspection Service controlled 15 harbours all over the country.

The result of the campaign was that the Inspection did not register any use of illegal bottom paints.
