Greenhouse gasses in air-conditioning systems
Control of refrigerants in air-conditioning systems.
In 2010, the Chemical Inspection Service controlled air-conditioning systems for contents of greenhouse gasses and ozone depleting substances. It is illegal to use ozone depleting substances and certain industrial greenhouse gasses as refrigerants in air-conditioning systems.
The results showed that none of the controlled air-conditioning systems contained industrial greenhouse gasses or ozone depleting substances.
In connection with the control, however, the Chemical Inspection Service observed a number of minor violations concerning the labelling of the products. The Inspection has informed two importers about the rules and ordered them to change the labelling in order to legalise the products.
In all, the Chemical Inspection Service controlled 27 air-conditioning systems.
