Reducing the impact on the environment

The overall goal of the National action plan in Denmark is to reduce the harmful effects of plant protection products on human health, animals and nature. One way in which we are working towards this goal is the National Action Plan for Green Growth. This section is an introduction to the objectives and Action Plans in the area of plant protection products.

Environmental objectives and Action Plans
The Green Growth Agreement is a concerted Action Plan incorporating Danish nature, environmental and climate initiatives. It was signed in 2009 by the Government and the Danish People's Party (Dansk Folkeparti). DKK 13.5 billion have been allocated for the period 2010-2015. The Action Plan will implement a number of the requirements stipulated by the EU. This section also provides access to earlier National Action Plans.

Initiatives under the Green Growth Action Plan
Part of the Green Growth agreement relates to plant protection products and thus to initiatives aimed at significantly reducing the harmful effects of plant protection products on humans, animals and nature. These include the future introduction of a new tax and indicator on plant protection products.

Agreement on consumption of plant protection products in public areas
The use of plant protection products in public areas is governed by a voluntary agreement between the Danish Ministry of the Environment and the municipalities and regions.

Consumption of plant protection products on golf courses
A broad political majority have agreed that regulations should be introduced governing the use of plant protection products on golf courses.
