Promotion of sustainable Nordic design through education
A Nordic initiative seeks to strengthen collaboration and improve education on designing sustainable fashion and textiles – in order to make ‘Nordic design’ carry connotations of sustainability.
The overall aim of the initiative is to make it easier for Nordic designers to work with sustainable materials, fashion and design through joint cooperation. The aim is to boost sustainable Nordic design of textiles and to strengthen the position of regional design schools. Nordic textile design should be synonymous with a high degree of sustainability.
To this end and to promote sustainable Nordic design, the Nordic ministers have initiated the development of a joint digital education platform.
The platform should support and strengthen collaboration between Nordic design schools and continuing education, possibly embedded in a joint association of players in the field of Nordic design.
A workshop for Nordic stakeholders was held in February 2016, and the project runs from October 2016 to November 2017.
